Waterford

Today was a busy day, we packed up and left Kilkenny. We wanted to go to Waterford to see the Waterford Crystal Factory and then go to Blarney Castle, and finally proceed to Killarney.

It was only about an hour's drive to Waterford from Kilkenny on the motorway, M9.

We found a parking place close to the Waterford Crystal Visitor Centre. I bought a parking ticket, but it blew off the dash. I couldn't find it, so Linda had to buy another one.

The Waterford Arms hotel exhibits the coat of arms given to the city by Henry VII for resisting a siege circa 1500.

Downtown church.

The Bishop's Palace was another tourist destination that we just didn't have time to see. It was directly across the street from the Waterford Crystal factory.

Well, here it is. Note the trademark seahorse with reversed tail.

Just to show we were there.

There was a lot of crystal on display in the exhibition/sales area.

Here is an absolutely amazing crystal clock.

This was for folks that need to drink from fine crystal.

Exquisite crystal sculpted birds (wingspread of 18-24 inches).

Barbara does a fancy self photograph.

Table loaded with crystal lit with amazing set of chandeliers.

Don't forget about Christmas!

Linda buys a house warming present that is very similar to this piece.

After shopping and the factory tour, we need to have dessert. Barbara say hers is one of the best she has ever had.

Linda's caramel slice.

Barbara's dessert.

We did a factory tour as well, but I will do that as a separate blog entry.
